[edit] Language color codes
Articles are preferred to be in English however no grief will come for those who use other languages.
[edit] Creating articles
- Place a note at the top. The following template is preferred:
{{Under Development|Some summary / description should go here.}}
- Place a version tag. Doing this will also throw it in the appropriate category for the version automatically. For example, if you are updating to version 4.2 then you should place the following template:
{{OBSD Ver 4.2}}
- Assign any category that the article will apply to after the version tag. For example, if you were writing an article for that deals with a mail server, you might apply:
[[Category:Mail]]
A list of all categories can be found Special:Categories.
If what you are writing doesn't fit in any but Misc however you feel that this category will expand later and shouldn't fly solo -- then feel free to make an appropriate category.
- When the article is complete, remove the "Under Development" template.
- Smile. You've helped the OpenBSD community. :-)
[edit] Dealing with spam
Simply revert to the previous version (or the latest clean version if it was hit multiple times). A summary of 'removing spam' would be nice, but is not required (it's often forgotten on accident).
[edit] Updating articles to new versions (e.g. 4.1->4.2)
- Place a note at the top. The following template is preferred:
{{Updating|Some summary / description should go here.}}
- Change the version tag to whatever version it is being update to. For example, if you are updating to version 4.2 then you should place the following template:
{{OBSD Ver 4.2}}
- Leave a note in the summary to know which version it currently is and what version it is being updated to.
- Remove the 'Updating' tag when done.
[edit] Learning wiki code
Go to the mediawiki site. The most useful page can be found here.
The version we are currently running can be found here: Special:Version , because some things are version specific.
[edit] Language
I'm uncertain if this place will grow to have more than it does now, but if your language is not English -- then please specify in the title what it is.
For example use (zh CN) for Chinese. At the moment I'm considering adding (en US) for all the others. Thoughts?
